The Passage

Read slowly. This is the verse the course is built on.

And he said to all, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me." (Luke 9:23)

Notice the four words. Come. Deny. Take up. Follow.

This is not a soft invitation. It is a definition. Jesus is telling us what discipleship is. To come after Him, you deny yourself. You take up your cross, daily. You follow.

Discipleship is not a Christian extra. It is the Christian life. There is no other Christianity Jesus is offering.
