Finding Your Place to Serve

Every member has a part to play. The New Testament has no spectators. The question is not whether you will serve but where, and how we help you find that place.

We want to be honest about how we do this, because we do it differently than many churches. We do not give you a personality test or a spiritual-gifts inventory and match you to a slot. We have a deeper reason than preference. We believe the Bible itself is sufficient to shape and direct a Christian's service, and that the right way to discern where you belong is the old way: a pastor or elder who knows you, sitting down with you, and talking it through.

So here is what a placement conversation looks at. It looks at your character, the kind of faithfulness people have seen in you over the months you have been with us. It looks at your capacity, the real circumstances of your life: your hours, your health, who is at home, what you can actually give. And it looks at the church's need, where there is genuine work for a faithful hand right now. Where those three meet, that is where you start.

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace. (1 Peter 4:10)

Your gifts are real, and they will become clear the way gifts always become clear: in actual service, over actual time, seen by the people serving alongside you. You do not need an inventory to tell you who you are. You need a church that knows you and a place to begin. The next step is that conversation.
