Welcome
Lesson Reading
Welcome to Scripture: The Doctrine of God's Word, the first course in the Pathmark series.
Pathmark is a five-part journey through the core commitments that shape how we live at Mayflower. We begin here, with the Bible, because everything else depends on it. If we are right about the Bible, we have a foundation to stand on for every other doctrine. If we are wrong about the Bible, nothing else stays steady.
This course walks through seven truths the Bible teaches about itself. God's Word is God-breathed, authoritative, without error, sufficient, clear, necessary, and effective. Each truth gets its own short reading. Two brief checks help what you've read stick.
By the end you will be able to name the seven attributes in your own words, recognize which attribute speaks to a given question, and choose one practice for engaging Scripture you will take into this week.
Plan for about forty-five minutes. You can stop and come back; your progress will be saved. Before you start, open your Bible to 2 Timothy 3:14-17. Read it slowly. The course starts by assuming you have that passage in front of you.
Most of all, begin with prayer. Ask the Spirit who inspired the Word to open your heart as you read.
