Lesson 3: New Life - A New Person in Christ
Lesson Reading
New Life in Christ
If you have trusted Christ, something real has happened to you. You are not the same person you were. The Bible does not say you turned over a new leaf. It says you became a new creation.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
This is not a feeling. It is a fact, and the feelings catch up over time. God has forgiven your sins, given you His Holy Spirit, and adopted you into His family. You belong to Him now, and nothing can change that.
So what does this new life look like in daily living? That is what the rest of this lesson is about. We will walk through eight things that belong to every follower of Christ: marking your salvation, knowing you are secure, being baptized, gathering with the church, sharing your faith, studying the Bible, praying, and living on mission.
None of these earns your salvation. You already have that as a gift. These are simply what the new life looks like as it grows. Think of them less as a checklist and more as a description of what God is already doing in you.
A note before you begin. If you took Intro to Mayflower, you received a booklet called Welcome to the Family. Keep it. It is a good keepsake, and there is a page in it where you can record the day you trusted Christ. But you do not need the booklet to do this course. Everything you need is right here.
Take it one step at a time. You have your whole life to grow into this.
