Gathering with the Church

Following Christ was never meant to be a solo journey. The Christian life is a shared life. The local church is not optional. It is your spiritual home, your family, and your lifeline for growth.

In the New Testament there is no such thing as a Christian who belongs to Jesus but to no church. When God saves you, He saves you into a people. The word the Bible uses again and again is "one another." Love one another. Bear one another's burdens. Encourage one another. You cannot do any of that alone.

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. (Hebrews 10:24-25)

Why do we need the church? Because we are weak, and we forget. We need other believers to remind us of the gospel when we are discouraged, to challenge us when we drift, to pray for us when we cannot pray for ourselves, and to celebrate with us when God is good. And the church needs you for the same reasons. You are not just a consumer here. You are a member of the body, with a part to play.

This is why we ask you to do more than attend a service. We ask you to belong. To become a covenant member. To join a smaller community within the church where you are truly known. To serve. That is the path the rest of the Foundations journey will walk you through.

For now, make a simple commitment: gather faithfully. Be here on the Lord's Day, week in and week out. Let this church become your family. It will change everything about how you grow.
